Historical & Interesting Facts
Soapstone’s name comes from its soft, “soapy” texture—long favored by artisans and healers
Used by Indigenous cultures for warmth-retaining vessels, carvings, and healing tools
Prized for its ability to absorb heat gently and release it slowly—ideal for therapeutic warmth
In colder regions, heated soapstone was wrapped in cloth and used to soothe joints, warm beds, or relieve cramping
When cooled, it stays dry to the touch and delivers a clean, crisp feel—making it excellent for puffiness, inflammation, or contrast therapy
Its natural softness makes it easy to shape into ergonomic tools that feel intuitive in the hand
Care, Use, and Safety
Warm using a stone heater, Theratools Warming Tray, or Theratools Mobile Warming Bag (safe range: 115–125°F)
